VP of Data Center Engineering and Operations

The Role: 

As the VP of Data Center Engineering and Operations for our colocation data centers, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our facilities' day-to-day operations and strategic direction. This role demands strategic leadership, technological innovation, and a strong track record in enhancing operational efficiency through effective execution. Candidates should have extensive experience in data center management, focusing on operational excellence, sustainable growth, and the ability to deliver results through execution. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Oversee strategic planning to scale and enhance the reliability, efficiency, and modernization of Evocative's colocation data centers, integrating advanced power, cooling, and security technologies 

• Provide leadership in fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability, with an emphasis on superior customer service and operational excellence 

• Manage financial operations encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to support growth and maintenance while negotiating with vendors for improved value 

• Maintain strict adherence to safety and regulatory compliance across all facilities and ensure compliance with industry standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA 

• Drive a culture of innovation by implementing continuous improvement strategies and best practices in operations, sustainability, and environmental management 

• Direct the maintenance and enhancement of data center infrastructure, including power systems, cooling, networking, and security protocols, while coordinating with engineering and facilities management for uninterrupted operation 

• Partner with construction teams to plan and execute the expansion of data center facilities 

• Maintain service availability and reliability to meet or exceed SLAs and manage key performance indicators to optimize service delivery 

• Collaborate with sales and service delivery teams to understand and meet client requirements, ensuring high customer retention and satisfaction 

• Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets, monitor financial performance, and handle P&L management effectively 

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations and promoting continuous professional growth and development 

Qualifications: 

• At least 10 years of proven data center operations management experience, with a history of leading teams and achieving operational excellence 

• Experience with P&L management and a strong track record of successful negotiations with vendors 

• In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, HVAC systems, networking technologies, controls, and physical security protocols 

• A strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in data center operations and management 

• Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring teams and collaborating effectively with various stakeholders 

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on driving continuous improvement and fostering innovation 

• Proven project management skills
